Σε ένα από τα πιο πολυβραβευμένα ντοκιμαντέρ στην ιστορία του είδους, με τίτλο «Η Κατασκευή της Συναίνεσης: ο Νόαμ Τσόμσκι και τα Μίντια», οι δημιουργοί ακολουθούν σε διαλέξεις ανά τον πλανήτη τον βραβευμένο με το βραβείο Κιότο (ιαπωνικό βραβείο ισότιμο του Νόμπελ για τις κοινωνικές επιστήμες) καθηγητή Γλωσσολογίας και μαχητικό κριτικό της εξωτερικής πολιτικής των ΗΠΑ για μισό αιώνα, Νόαμ Τσόμσκι. Το αποτέλεσμα τους δικαίωσε με 22 βραβεία και 50 συμμετοχές σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ, καθώς αποτέλεσε το πιο επιτυχημένο ντοκιμαντέρ στην ιστορία του Καναδά μέχρι την προβολή του The Corporation (2003), από τους ίδιους δημιουργούς.
Ο Αμερικανός διανοητής υποστηρίζει ότι τα ΜΜΕ στις ΗΠΑ είναι, αν όχι «φερέφωνα», τουλάχιστον εκφραστές των συμφερόντων του κυρίαρχου πολιτικού και οικονομικού κατεστημένου (των «πολυεθνικών»). «Ο ρόλος των ΜΜΕ», σημειώνει, «είναι να υπερασπίζονται την πολιτική, οικονομική και κοινωνική ατζέντα των προνομιούχων ομάδων που κυριαρχούν στην κοινωνία και στο κράτος»  "Τίποτα δεν είναι πιο άσχετο σε αυτά που συζητήσαμε από μια θεωρία συνωμοσίας. Αν αναλύσω το οικονομικό σύστημα και πω ότι η General Motors προσπαθεί να μεγιστοποιήσει το κέρδος και το μερίδιο της αγοράς, αυτό δεν είναι θεωρία συνωμοσίας, είναι ανάλυση των θεσμών. Δεν έχει καμία σχέση με τις συνωμοσίες και είναι η ίδια ακριβώς λογική που εφαρμόζεται για τα μέσα ενημέρωσης.
